Katie Bell can't be only a year older than Harry. In PS, Lee Jordan 
says something like "Katie Bell for Gryffindor, great find of Oliver 
Wood's, she was only a reserve last year" (Haven't got the books. At 
my mum's, and the copy of PS I rather sweetly bought her four years 
ago is probably buried under some dust somewhere). Now, although this 
states that she wasn't actually playing, she still would've been a 
first year, and on the house Quidditch team. I don't think there 
would have been such a fuss about Harry if a first year had even been 
allowed a possibility of playing just the year before.
