I felt the same way with Grawp, but then I hated the whole Grawp plotline anyway. 

I actually thought Hermione was leading them to Aragog just because I thought we were supposed to see him again in this book? Weren't we supposed to see that car again, too?

However, I did not feel that way about the car in CoS. I loved that the car returned, and I think I would have been dissapointed if we had not seen the car at some later point.
