It is clear in the book that Ron likes Hermione. Her feelings are
rather a mystery to me. Sometimes I thought she liked him, at others
I didn't. And as many times as Rowling has decried the suitablity of
Harry and Hermione, I have to say I now find Hermione far more suited
to Harry than she is to Ron. She hasn't the sympathy for weakness
that someone would need when loving Ron. He's an ordinary person and
so he is bound to have the weaknesses of an ordinary man. She's far
more suited to Harry since she admires him so and Harry seems to
admire her in return. (I mean their qualities rather than in a
romantic way.)

However I am fairly of what will happen with Ron. He is going to be
a bit of "James the Bully". Popular and insensitive. Parading and
jolly but reckless and often cruel. We see it happening already.
Ron at the end of OOTP is hit with the giggles suggesting I think
that he will loose his focus and become somewhat shallow - if we
aren't supposed to think that already. We know he likes the
spotlight and he will bask in it when it is given. That is very
tempting to him.

I predict a year of girls flinging themselves at him and Ron enjoying
that very much. Perhaps he will get a big head about it. Perhaps
Hermione will show some jealousy and that will draw him back to
sense. I doubt it will be so easy. I see him on the outs with Harry.
Afterall Harry doesn't need Ron badly according to Rowling. His role
as Harry's best friend may be over.

Pretty much I think that the dark side is a going to still be a real
possibility for Ron. If Harry is to be Christ, Ron is well set up to
be his Judas. Was it 16 or 13 pieces of silver? I can't remember I
am sure Rowling will come up with something to make us believe the
betrayal was not so cut and dry.

The dangers of which are possibly forshadowed by Cho's friend.

Don't you fear, Ron's dark side is on the rise. Getting what you
want is the worst thing for most people. It is hardly ever what one
needs. (Though one might hope that Rowling would have a little
sympathy for dear old Ronnie)

If he ends up betraying Harry, I doubt I will believe it realistic.
But then nothing at will surprise me after OOTP.
