IMO as far as the Remus/Romulus tale goes, they were raised by a
wolf. I think that that is the relevant fact rather than Romulus'
murder of Remus. At least that's what I like to tell myself,
although in most of my theories Lupin lives, which might have
something to do with the fact that he is my favorite, favorite,
favorite. I admit that it worries me that JKR killed Sirius, because
it sends a message that she can kill at will and no one is safe
(including her favorite character.)
My strong defense for why she won't kill my boy Lupin is as follows.
Is she really going to have Wormtail as the only Marauder to survive?
(I know "Marauders" is not really their title, but it does sound
cool, no?) Even if he (wormtail) dies as well, to have James, Sirius
AND Remus die (at his master's hand no less, directly or indirectly),
just doesn't seem right. It would be something of a victory for such
a spineless, awful, deceitful character. Hasn't he done enough
damage? All three were supposed to be pretty powerful wizards. For
the love of Merlin, give us Lupin as the last one standing.
Which brings me to another related thought, while Harry is destined
to a final showdown with VD, I believe other characters are also
bound for important confrontations. As much as Harry wants a piece
of Bellatrix, to avenge Sirius' death, I do believe that Neville will
eventually confront her on some level. In the same vein, (especially
now that Sirius is dead) I see a Moony and Wormtail exchange in the
cards, or tea leaves, or crystal ball
whatever.
NewDev (I tried to post pretty much the same thing earlier and I
don't think it worked, but if it ends up on here twice, I'm sorry)
