Hi. I think you made a lot of good points in your argument. Dean
Thomas certainly played a bigger role in OOP. But what about Neville
Longbottom? We have discovered that Neville and Harry have a lot in
common, and its possible that one of the two prophecy boys will die.
JKR said that something is coming in Book 6, which is why she had to
kill off Sirius. What if Harry tries to avenge Sirius by killing
Bellatrix, but Neville kills her instead, thinking that he has the
greater right? In the process, he's killed. Plus, there is that
unresolved plant issue: mimulus mimbletonia. I agree with you that
any deaths in Book 6 cannot be as big as Sirius', because it will
lack the emotional impact for Harry. However, right now, Harry is
grieving. He feels a lot of emptiness, but not much else. Something
must happen in Book 6 to make Harry Pissed Off at Voldemort, finally
setting him (Harry) over the edge in preparation for the Final Battle
in Book 7. While a major character death may not be necessary, the
person must be someone who has affected Harry's daily life. I can
imagine the death of one of the Weasleys, his roomates (especially
Neville or Dean), or a member of the Order that he has grown close to
(like Lupin) would finally make Harry say, Enough! What do you think?

veil, wondering where everyone went
