Nice analysis, but if I am counter with some other possibilities...

Ok, I'll buy that analysis, except I'd be less sure about
Divination, and Harry's performance on Astronomy was, shall we say
influenced by distration...?

Unfortunately, Fudge could hang around throughout. I'm the first to
wish AW to become MoM, but can easily see plot development requiring
him to remain in a more middle-management position. Also, I can
imagine Fudge weathering the bad press of this current year, and if
he /does/ finally come on board to listen to Dd and had his support
I can see him surviving a no confidence vote.

Or, a DE will kill Dd while he is distracted in fighting You Know
Who.

or Bill).
Sad, but possible.

And then Harry will discover that the pensieve in Snape's office is
not Dd but his own and when reviewing it will discover that SS loved
and cared for him all along, that he felt sorry for his situation,
that he hated having to put him down and humiliate him, that.... er,
um... sorry, been reading to many FanFics. No, let's just say
Snape /could/ die as speculated and leave it at that.

Neville might show that much promise, but his performance in DA has
been less than spectacular (although surprising for him). Also, we
clearly see that Neville loves Herbology. (And I'll wager that his
knowledge here will prove vital in the coming books!)
Hermione has the best chance to become a teacher. Pic a subject. Any
subject (well, except for Divination).
Ron will either work in the Ministry of Magic or become the
bookkeeper for Gred and Forge's Joke Shop Empire. He'll marry Luna
and produce a brood of orange haired Weasleys to continue the
Hogwarts tradition.
Harry will settle down to a life of the landed gentry, write his
memoirs (My Years With Hagrid's Family -- They Might Be Giants), and
settle down to a quiet and happy life with Ginny and their three
children: Ronald James, Sirius and Hermione (the twins).

Wouldn't that more likey be Umbridge? Where was she at the time?
I'll have to go back and check that one.

If this were so I'm sure we'd have read about it at least in passing
by now.

Nice possibility! But I think this will cast us back into
speculations about Neville. He will be the inadvertant cause of an
accidental poisoning (one of his plants, etc.) of Harry for which
his quick thinking will save him. Then, at the end of Book Seven,
paralleling the death of AD, while You Know Who has Harry under
cruciatus, Neville, who will have been unconscious up to then, will
rise up and kill the Dark Lord.
Well, that's my spin on things....
