As one of the lessons learned in 5 is that Dumbledore is not infallible, the 
more I think about it, the more I think this may be correct......Dumbledore 
confirmed Harry's understanding of the prophecy meaning that Harry has to either 
kill or be killed by V.  But if we see that  DD  can make judgement errors, 
then it's entirely plausible that he may be wrong in his interpretation of the 
prophecy and that a third party *is* involved.
This also suggests, I think, that "the other" may be Neville as well, as 
someone else pointed out...

Karen F (who thinks DD may die at the hand of V in the act of protecting 
Harry....)
