OK, I can't resist this one....
One thing about TMTMNBN#2 that my husband and I both noticed immediately was
Harry's obession with touching hands.
I can't find reference to all that hand touching in the canon, but it
repeats over and over in the film.....the Hand of Glory, the hands of Justin and
Hermione when they're petrified (he only touches H's hand in the canon because of
the paper tucked into it), Ginny's hand in the Chamber.... It was kind of
awkward to watch. Who would really do that? I sure wouldn't touch the Hand of
Glory--that seemed downright foolish. I don't think I'd reach for a petrified
person's hand, either, at least not Justin's who is not a close friend of
Harry's. That would be too intimate and, well, unnatural. Humans subconsciously
(instinctively?) regard the hand as a source of danger as much as comfort. H and
G make more sense as they are close friends of Harry.
Could there be something to this, ie, was this intentional and relevant to
the series? Thrown in as foreshadow like Hermione's awkwardness with Ron at the
end (also not in canon)? Or was it just a lack of imagination on the part of
the screen writer or the director?
Karen F (who's tired of hearing her husband's grousing about "the hand thing"
every time we watch the movie!)
