This is the first thing that has made me believe that there might
actually be some truth to the Lupin is James speculation. I never
read very far into that thread on the board because of my skepticism
so if this has been mentioned in that thread then I apologize.
However . . . if the boggart turns into the prophecy orb (and then
cockroach upon riddikulus) for Lupin then maybe he really is James
and his greatest fear is that the prophecy about his son being
destined for the grand finale with Voldemort will come true. We know
James knew about the prophecy but when did Lupin find out? I doubt he
would have known about it as far back as PoA. Great mystery!
