OK, book 5 gave us tons of answers to our millions of questions. It
also brought about even more questions. I have some theories I
would like to bounce off of you all.
First of all the Prophecy.

The one with the power to vanquish the dark Lord approaches... Born
to those who thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...
and the Dark Lord will mark him as an equal, but he will have powers
the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the
other for neither can live while the other survives...

Forgive me if this has been brought up already. The latter part of
the prophecy is what I find most intriguing. Why can't Harry and
Voldemort exist at the same time? and What will happen if they do?
I don't have an answer for the first question, but I may for the
second. Go back if you will to the first chapter of OOTP. JKR
makes a big deal about the drought that is going on. She mentions
how unusual it is, because the cars that are normally shiny and
clean are not. OK, she goes on and on reinforcing that there is a
drought and it is unusual. I do not think she was just letting us
know the weather to fill in space. Hold on to your hats, here comes
my crazy theory! I believe that the weather is being affected by
Harry and Voldemort both existing at the same time. This might be
the reason they can not both exist at the same time. It is causing
Mother Nature to go wacko, and I think the drought is only the
beginning.

OK, next part of the Prophecy that intrigues me. he will have power
the Dark Lord knows not... Then Dumbledore tells us that Harry does
have a power that Voldemort can not tolerate. He tells Harry that
the locked door in the Dept. of Mysteries contains this power and
that Harry possess it in such quantities and Voldemort has not at
all. He told Harry that is what brought him to save Sirius. He
tells Harry that when Voldemort tried to possess him it was that
power that saved him, that it didn't matter that Harry could not
close his mind. His heart saved him.

So, Harry's secret power is love! Snape was trying to teach Harry
during the Occlumency lessons to quiet his emotions, because they
can be used as weapons against him. Harry seems to be a special
case. It turns out that when facing Voldemort his emotions can
defeat him. My theory... Harry will defeat Voldemort with love.
Remember, again back in the first chapter when Harry was going on
and on about wanting revenge against Dudley for all those years of
hell? When it came down to it he saved Dudley. He could have
allowed those dementors to finish Dudley off for him. We saw how
abused he was even more than ever before in this book. Dudley was a
major source of this, and of course if Dudley were a vegetable it
would devastate the Dursleys who worship him. Dudley decked him when
the Dementors were coming on them. Harry still chose to save his
cousin. He warned him to keep his mouth shut what ever he did.
Then, after he defeated the Dementor that was after him he sent it
after the one that was trying to pry Dudley's hands from his face.
HELLO, Harry hates the Dursleys. Doesn't he? Maybe, he can not hate
because he is the embodiment of love. This is why I think Harry is
going to defeat Voldemort with the all consuming power of love.

I have more theories on Snape, and on Lilly but I think this post is
long winded enough.
