-Well, Marianne has already responded to this, and she expressed
herself perfectly well, but I still feel as if you and I are talking
somewhat at crossed purposes, so here goes:

.....Yet you later admit that you would 'feel gutted' if one of
*your* favorite characters had died. If this made you somewhat less
emotionally involved in the story, or lessened, to some degree, your
anticipation of the next books (I'm not saying it would or wouldn't,
just 'if'), would you want someone to publicly laugh at you for it?

Dublina: Yes, publicly laugh at me if I am going to dismiss the next
two books. We know that JKR is brilliant at changing direction and
throwing us off, (eg: her last 5 books), and we can all speculate at
what might come next but to totally 'dimiss' the next two texts, I
thought was funny. My interpretation, take it or leave it... Also,
and I think I've already stated this, if a fav. character of mine did
die I would be sadden but that would *not* lessen my excitement for
the next two volumes.

-That's why the comment came off as rude and dismissive to me.
Marianne was stating her personal emotional reaction to what
happened, and you were apparently laughing at her. I'm sorry, but I
just don't think that's very nice.

Dublina: How would you like your boss to 'dimiss' your future work?
Just wouldn't happen would it? You would be taken back and
somewhat
shocked at such a thought, no?

-Each of us has our own reasons for liking these books, and our own
emotional reactions to them, and seeing such a dismissive response to
someone's reactions bothered me.

-Marianne already addressed this, but I'll have a go too. The two
things are not at all the same. In the case of the 'potential allure
is lost,' Marianne did not, as she points out, 'dismiss' the rest of
the books out of hand.

Dublina: To say that the 'potential allure is lost', _to_me_ my
*interpretation* is likened to *dismissing*.

-All she did was say that for her, personally, *something* was lost.

Dublina: I actually think she stated, " So, the _final_two_books_
have lost a lot of their potential allure for me". Check out the
post number 72545.

-By replying with a seemingly sarcastic 'are you for real,' you
*seemed* to be saying that her reaction *was* 'wrong,'

Dublina: The 'are you for real' statement was more of an instant
shock reaction more than anything else which is why it was stated so.

-Let me clarify here. My use of the word 'problem' was not directed
at JKR, so your vigorous defense of her is unneccesary. <g>

Dublina: When I saw the word 'problem' stated I was actually quite
annoyed with this choice of word only having just read where JKR
wants to spend time with her family but also has to write two more
books that can't be produced quick enough for the readers. <g>

-I completely understand her need to take more time, and I don't
begrudge her that. I was trying to say that such a long wait can
affect fans and their reactions to what happens, because it gives
*us* so much more time to think, speculate, and perhaps get even
*more* attached to the characters than we might otherwise have. We
wonder and discuss things like 'Why does Dumbledore really trust
Snape?' or 'Will Neville play a greater role?' or 'Will Sirius ever
clear his name?' And in the process, many of us develop an emotional
investment in the answers to these questions. I don't blame JKR for
this at all (nor did I in my original post). I'm just pointing out
that it happens, and that the long wait contributes to it.

Dublina: Yes, I have however already agreed to this point in a
previous post. Yes, us fans do have to wait and speculation is rife
but that is the love we have for Harry Potter! I see no problem with
that, that is why I am here.

Dublina -previously-: But this is a story, seen through the eyes of
Harry and if someone has to die, then someone has to die (because he
is telling us his _life_story_) and you *grieve* but you move on,
just as in life, and yes, you should never forget the passing of a
life because everyone _is_ precious.

-And would you want to be laughed at while you were grieving?

Dublina: Um, what did I say in my post? I -laughed- at the dismissal
of the two future texts being dismissed _NOT_ at the death of person
or persons!

Dublina: No, I would not like to be laughed at when I am grieving and
even though it is a brilliant story the fact remains it is
_a__story_. Now, lets say if the twins dies (since we saw Mrs
Weasley's boggart) I would be gutted but surely, there would be more
than meets the eye.

Dublina: So, lets talk Sirius. Firstly, no I am not a Sirius fan,
(not even close), but I am also not a Snape fan, (just in case you
were wondering). I personally feel that Sirius will be back. Where
is the body? Doesn't Luna who is speculated to be a Seer (sp?)
make
some comment about possibly seeing Sirius again,(don't have my
book
with me at the moment). To me his death is not final but no tears
have been spilled.
