A theory that I know I got from this board at one time has become my
personal favorite, which I think explains it. Ron, somehow, during
book 7, will have some sort of accident with an exploding time-turner
(or other such device), that sends him back in time 130 years.
For some reason or another (perhaps his transport causes the death a
young Albus Dumbledore), Ron assumes the identity (or creates the
identity) of Dumbledore, and using his knowledge of the future (in an
honorable, noble, Gryffindorian way), lives out the life of
Dumbledore. In other words, Dumbledore is really Ron.
The proofs are few, other than the shared blue eyes, and as you
mentioned, DD's uncanny knowledge of things he shouldn't.
* Dumbledore is the only one who is suspicious of Riddle
* Dumbledore knows Harry must live and takes him to the Dursley's
after the fateful night
* Dumbledore always seems to know what Harry is planning or plotting
(see: A Peck of Owls), yet always lets he and Ron complete
adventures you would think he would be wise enough to see and stop,
unless he had already lived through it himself!
* On several occasions, he takes himself out of the picture (SS, CS,
OP), even insuring Harry (and Ron) STAYS in his stead.
* But during OotP, when young Ron has the LEAST understanding of
Harry and what he's feeling, Dumbledore admits himself to trying to
do what's right, but it doesn't make the situation turn out better
than perhaps it would have otherwise (Harry's mistake in going to the
MoM after Sirius).
Thus, of course he would know to look at the trio in Hagrid's Hut as
he was being relieved of his duties (CoS)...because 135 years
previous, it was HE who was hiding in the invisibility cloak.
Of course, Ron, who would be in the long past with full knowledge of
the horrors of Voldemort before he was even born, would begin
equipping himself with the knowledge and experiences needed to battle
him (thus, Dumbledore was the only one he ever feared). As much time
as Tom spent preparing himself for evil and imortality, Ron/DD
prepared himself in the most powerful forms of the DADA.
Love this theory. Plus, it gives Ron the glory and feelings of
importance he seems to have always panged for as a child. Plus, it
feeds into the "unicorn wand" theory that he may "die" innocently,
though unbeknowst to the rest, he travelled back in time.
