I really find it odd that people can make all sorts of excuses or
have loads of sympathy for adult Snape, no matter what his behavior,
because he had a rotten childhood. I'm by no means belittling how
this can affect an adult. But, for Sirius to suffer 12 years of
mental torture and physical deprivation and emotional isolation,
then another two years in fuguitive mode, and now to end up in what
is essentially a second prison, somehow is seen as inconsequential.

I don't know about other poeple, but there are several reason I
dislike Sirius more than dislike Snape. I think the main one is
that Harry like Sirius and hates Snape. Let me explain.

Both Sirius and Snape are unable to let go of the past. Both of
them constantly expect Harry to act as James would.

However, Harry never (until Ootp) saw Siriu's faults and he never
saw Snape contributions. I know it's natural for Harry to feel that
way. However, I am virtually always harder an a charater I an meant
to like.

In addition I find Snape's moral code --treat everyone like dirt,
but grade fair (in OotP, i think only O.W.L.s count) and try to save
lives even if you hate the person in question-- less disturbing than
Sirius -- I don't like Snape so I should not be blamed for
endagering his life; he deserved it.

I don't like either of them, but I dislike Sirius far more.
