To say nothing of Sirius' own childhood.  If the portrait of Mrs. 
Black is an accurate reflection of her real personality and her 
attitude toward her son, then young Sirus' homelife must've been 
toxic.  All of Draco's nastiness is frequently explained away by the 
fact that his father is supposedly mean to him, yet we've never seen 
Lucius say anything to Draco that's remotely as cruel as what Mrs. 
Black screams at Sirius.  Yet, again, everything that Sirus has gone 
through gets dismissed with a shrug and a "Get over it," while Draco 
and Snape get pity and excuses.  I may sympathize with Snape and 
admire his heroism, but I still don't see why he should get a free 
pass while Sirius gets condemned.
