Cassie:
I'd never've thought of that. Then again, I usually don't go so indepth
into any characters except Snape and sometimes the Malfoys. I still don't think
Sirius was the most mature man,or even the most responsible/sensible at times,
but even if his head isn't in the right place his heart always is. I also
agree with Snape on the fact that he found it frustrated he couldn't do
anything...*useful* for the Order (or anyone, really). Perhaps Sirius is trying to
make up for lost time.

Sirius? Jealous of 'ol Snivelly? ^_^

Yes...I imagine that feeds into his hatred towards Snape. It rather makes it
sound like he'd make any excuse to hate Snape (not that there aren't some
good ones). He knows Snape has a notorious habit of being hard on Harry. What
could either be a flaw in this or help it is that Snape doesn't want to see
Harry everyday and probably wouldn't care about protecting him if he wasn't duty
bound to. Sirius, on the other hand, would probably give his left paw for
Harry. Once again though: Heart in the right place. Head? Who knows. In some
situations that can be a good or bad thing.

> But I think that we are forgetting that what Sirius says about Snape in GOF
> which I think proves that he may not like Snape but he wasn't all that

The only thing I recall in regards to Sirius talking about Snape being a DE
was that it was never proven whether or not he was one. I don't have my copy
with me...I guess I'm one of the ones who forgot. ^^; Care to offer a quote or
something? Please? ^^

Aha! Doesn't this sound awfully familiar?

(Oop. American Ed. pg. 746)

'Snape had been his very last hope.'

(Oop. American Ed. pg. 832)

"What about Snape?" Harry spat. "You're not talking about him, are you? When
I told him Voldemort had Sirius he just sneered at me as usual-"

"Harry, you know that Professor Snape had not choice but to pretend not to
take you seriously in front of Dolores Umbridge," said Dumbledore steadily...

<snip>

Harry disregarded this; he felt a savage pleasure in blaming Snape, it seemed
to be easing his own sense of dreadful guilt, and he wanted Dumbledore to
agree with him.

I think there is a definate analogy to be made here. However...you have to
remember that there was a time when Sirius's closest friends and even Harry
thought he was a DE. Even Dumbledore had his doubts. And we don't know
exactly how much the DE's knew about each other. It would've been a welcomed thing
to have someone innocent put in Azkaban in a DE's place (even a marked one,
like wormtail). If Snape did the same thing with Harry and only
pretended....well, if he had come out and said Sirius was not a DE, how could he back it up
without giving himself away?

>

> correct view of Sirius at all.

It may not be what Sirius is...or...was like all of the time, but it is a
side of him that exists (when he's very very very very very very very very bored,
etc..). I think they're are good speculations, though ^^
