Amy looked around her at her first journey into theory bay since
Hurricane Jo struck. The only thing standing on the beachfront that
had been there before was George's Bar. The safe house was there,
probably still celebrating the whole "need to know" theme of book 5.
More cannon for the Dishwasher, thought Amy, not that she really
understood all the ins and outs of the theory but she was sure that
someone out there was working on a post that explained the actions of
book five.
There were very few theories still left after the great Hurricane had
swept through. Mind you, thought Amy, there probably is a very
strong chance that Jo reads these message boards. The most promising
evidence of this was at Harry's trial at the beginning of OoP. Not
only is the armchair that Dumbledore conjures for Mrs Figg squishy it
is also described as a MATCHING ARMCHAIR.
But Amy was distracted from this line of though by a solitary figure
on the beach sobbing his heart out over what looked like the remains
of a hovercraft. Amy took a few steps further down the beach towards
the figure. So intent was she that the crying man could not hear her
approach that she tripped over an over large nameplate.
She picked up the large plate and examined it. It had clearly been
torn off the hovercraft that now lay in pieces around her. There was
some letters missing but Amy soon worked out that the sign read - The
Fourth Man Hovercraft.
Suddenly everything fell into place. "Avery?" Amy called.
The man leapt up to his feet desperately trying to dry his eyes.
Wow, thought Amy, it's actually Avery.
"I don't think you should be crying over a broken Hover craft now you
know. Besides I have thought of a lovely theory that will help you
restore your fourth man credential."
Avery looked helplessly up at her.
"Look, I know in cannon it says that it was Mr and Mrs Lestrange and
Barty Crouch that was at the court room and it is stated that it was
Mr Lestranges brother that was the fourth man in the pensive." Avery
nodded, tear threatening to take him over again. "But that's just my
point, I can't remember if it ever states in cannon that this brother
was actually at the torturing. Lets face it, all we know for sure is
that Bella Lestrange was there and most probably Barty Crouch. But
you could have been there as well.
"Perhaps the Longbottems could only remember that there were four
attackers and when asked to give evidence, only indicated the
Lestranges as Mrs Lestrange would no doubt have been the most
obvious. And she was on her own little "the dark lord will rise
again" crusade so she didn't care who she took down with her.
"It could have even been her idea to leave you out of the whole court
proceeding because, let's face it Avery, you do tend to crack under
pressure. Perhaps she was placing money on the fact that after you
got off you would alert all the other death eaters to the importance
of the Longbottems or what ever you were doing there. If you had
been captured for the torturing of the Longbottems you would probably
have started naming everyone from Severus Snape to Keyser Soze to get
off. In the mind of Mrs Lestrange she wouldn't be bothered what
other death eaters were there, after all, they were all willing to
die for the cause, weren't they?"
Avery looked a little happier at the news but still looked mournfully
at the broken Hovercraft.
"Don't worry, I'm sure someone will come up with some cannon to build
you a new one."
