now me: I haven't until now actually paid much creedence to any of 
the evil Lupin theories, however, now that I think about the 
possibility of Sirius being poisoned, Lupin seems to me to be the 
likeliest candidate.  Well, maybe likeliest isn't the right word, but 
I am certainly suspicious; anyone who would be poisoning Sirius would 
most likely be doing it at regular intervals, right?  Well, if Lupin 
lives with Sirius, he has a good excuse to be around Sirius often 
enough to continue feeding him the poison.

that's really all the evidence that I have to back me up, but still, 
I think its worth considering.
