It seems like it would be hard for Dumbledore to trust Snape if he 
was the one eavesdropping. The person who overheard the prophecy was 
detected and thrown out.  Dumbledore would have known who it was. If 
it was Snape then he would have had to do something spectacular to 
get Dumbledore to trust him.  I wonder if it had anything to do 
with "flying" around at "night" syping on the DE's. I'm sure that was 
part of it but it has to be something greater.  Hmmm...
