Well, he certainly doesn't have to put up with *that* taunt
anymore. I would have thought that just staying alive for Harry's
sake might have been worth something to Sirius. I sure don't think
that HE would have been disappointed not to have his godfather
playing d'Artagnan at the MoM. He didn't appreciate Hagrid telling
him that Sirius was pretty well better off dead than stuck back at
GP. As irksome as his existence in limbo was to HIM, his just being
alive meant a lot to Harry. I guess I have less sympathy for Sirius
because I'm a parent, and have to settle for a lot less in life than
I expected, because I have kids and have to do it for them. It's
just the way things are.

By the way, when Snape wanted him to stay at GP and let the others
go the MoM, he wasn't suggesting it just to be a bastard. If I
recall, he wanted Sirius there to tell Dumbledore what was going
on. Since Sirius wouldn't stay, nobody was there when Dumbledore
did arrive, except Kreacher. So instead of getting the news
instantly, he had to drag it out of an unwilling House Elf. How long
did that take? Twenty minutes? It certainly slowed Dumbledore
down. If not for Sirius leaving the place unmanned, he might have
gotten there before the DEs were running amok, torturing Neville and
generally causing havoc.
