This scene seemed to stick out both in the book and in the movie.
Hagrid's excuse to be in Knockturn Alley just seemed to be inadequate
and he seemed a little flustered by Harry's question (err, sorry, but
*especially* in the movie.) I guess I never even considered that
Hagrid could be the true heir of Slytherin, so if this scene was
meant to cast a suspicion over him in that sense (as others have
suggested), it was lost on me. However, I *still* do feel that there
is something here that has not been explained. I felt that way after
reading the book and the fact that the scene was left in the movie
reinforced that impression (particularly considering that the rest of
the Knockturn Alley scene had been cut to ribbons, as evidenced by
the extra scenes on the DVD.) It is interesting to hear that others
felt the same way. Elle
