miss_america_03:
How do you pronounce "wizengamot"
Also Tonks says "Wotcher Harry"
what does that mean?
Me(Dan):
I pronounce it Why-zen-ga (rhymes with the ca- of camp)-mut.
As for "wotcher," that's slang for "hello."
-Dan
I agree with Dan- this is how I was pronouncing it, as well. It seems more appropriate than "wiz-en-ga-mot"... "wise" sounds like it should be in there, since this is the council of wise wizards and witches.
Also, thank you Miss_America for your question- I have been wondering the same thing, and it's been driving me nuts!! I love that the English slang is left in the book (I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my speech without sounding like a complete idiot, LOL) but they need to add a glossary for us ignorant Americans!! ;)
