> The dues-ex-machina plot device is total doo-doo - if Harry
"wakes up" and discovers that all seven books worth of adventures
was just a dream, I think JKR will have to go into hiding to avoid
the lynch mob that will be after her.

> Personally (I have said it before, but what the hey) I wouldn't
mind if Harry died the ultimate hero, saving the world from Evil
Lord Thingy. It almost has a religious feel to it - evil reigns, a
boy is "prophecised" to be born and save the world, and is later
told that he is the chosen one, but must face the choice - turn his
back on destiny, or possibly die to save the world???
> At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to find out Lily was a
virgin and Ron will eventually betray him :-P. But I digress. While
I am not particularly religious, I always like a good "chosen one"
story. >>>

I must say that the Harry as Peter Pan, or Harry as Dorothy of
Kansas, or Harry as Jesus (or even Neo ala matrix) endings
would annoy me. I trust (hope) that JK Rowling is better than that.
The idea that he may lose his powers gives me some hope but I
still can't really see him surviving. All the scenes dealing with
death in OotP, and the acceptance of death (or not accepting in
the ghosts' cases) made me a little fearful for Harry's... uh...
future.
