Hi,
Something I've been thinking about for awhile; I believe that Lily
gave Harry protection against any sort of mortal danger - whether
it's a curse or a muggle trying to kill him. (Brought up as a
question in the DD Death line of letters...)
I think JKR gave us a glimpse of this in OOP. I know that Harry
sometimes uses magic without meaning to, like the snake in SS and
Aunt Marge in PA, but what if Lily's gift plays a part in things
when Harry has nothing left... I mean, Quirrel (true, he had LV as a
part of him) melted when he touched Harry to kill him. Harry's very
skin was like a poisen. Then, in OOP, Vernon is very upset with
Harry's supposed use of magic.
(pg. 5, US version) "Harry gasped; for a few seconds they
struggled, Harry pulling at his uncle's sausage-like fingers with
his left hand, his right maintaining a firm grip on his raised
want. Then, as the pain in the top of Harry's head gave a
particularly nasty throb, Uncle Vernon yelped nad released Harry as
though he had received an electric shock -- some invisible force
seemed to have surged through his nephew, making him impossible to
hold."
Here, Vernon had his hands around Harry's throat and was probably
angry enough to be choking the life out of him. There is no mention
that Harry did this magic himself; I think it's a part of Lily's
lingering gift to her son.
What do y'all think?
