Now Cindy:
I agree. Here is a snip from my Snape theory site about Snape's clothes:
" The clothes listed here are the clothes that J.K. Rowling describes Snape=
 as
wearing in the books. They are almost completely different to the clothes t=
hat
the 'Alan Rickman movie Snape' wears! This is something about the movies
that bothers me to no end! And this detailed look at Snape's real clothes i=
s my
small protest.
I have my own theory about Snape's real clothes (the clothes he wears in th=
e
book) below...

Snape's Cloaks:

Pg 103 (PS): "He [Snape] swept around in his long black cloak."

Pg 165 (PS): "A hooded figure came swiftly down the front steps of the
castle..."

Pg 166 (PS): "He [Snape] threw his cloak over his head and strode out of th=
e
clearing..."

Pg 459 (ootp): "...He [Snape] turned to leave, his black travelling cloak
billowing behind him...balled his fist in the pocket of his cloak over what=
 Harry
was sure wasthe handle of his wand..."

Pyjama Party:

Pg 407 (GoF): "...He [Snape] was wearing a long grey nightshirt and he
looked livid..."

Snape's Robes:

Pg 571 (ootp): "...a second flash of light later, Snape was hanging upside =

down in the air, his robes falling over his head to reveal skinny, pallid l=
egs
and a pair of greying underpants..."
Notice, only underwear. No trousers etc...

Pg 225 (PoA): "Professor Snape sat in the very front row, wearing green lik=
e
everyone else..."
Something very rare, and to be remembered; Snape wearing a colour that
isn't black, or a shade of black.

Pg 134 (PS): "Snape was holding his robes above his knees. One of his legs =

was bloody and mangled. Filch was handing Snape bandages."
Again - nothing underneath the robes! I sincerely hope this helps the fanfi=
c
writers.

>From all of these descriptions, it is quite obvious that Severus Snape wear=
s
robes, a cloak, underwear and nothing else underneath. Sorry to dissapoint =

you, but there are no taylored trousers, or neck-high shirts, no fingerless=

gloves, or scarves etc...
And I know why.
It is simply because Snape is a wizard, not a muggle, and the fact that he =

wears only wizard clothes leads me to believe that he definately comes from=
 a
pureblood family, as witches or wizards who have grown up as muggles tend
to wear their robes over the top of their muggle clothes, but Snape wears o=
nly
robes. The fact that Snape wore only robes as a 15 year old teenager, and
that he still wears only robes (and no muggle clothing underneath) probably=

suggests that that is what he has been wearing his whole life, with the lat=
er
addition of his trademark long black cloak.
This also makes him more 'wizard' to me. I cannot imagine Severus Snape, in=

anything that resembles muggle clothes, no matter how 'eccentric' or 'Goth'=

the clothing. It isn't him. He is a wizard, full stop. Wizards wear robes. =
And
whilst pondering over this, I remembered another quote from the Quidditch
World Cup in Goblet of Fire, and I think it somes up a wizards reaction to =

wearing muggle clothing perfectly:

Pg 77 (GoF): "...One of them was a very old wizard who was wearing a long
flowery nightgown. The other was clearly a Ministry wizard; he was holding =

out a pair of pinstriped trousers and almost crying with exasperation.
'Just put them on Archie, there's a good chap, you can't walk around like t=
hat,
the Muggle on the gate's already getting suspicious -"
'I bought this in a Muggle shop,' said the old wizard stubbornly, 'Muggles =
wear
them.'
'Muggle women wear them, Archie, not the men, they wear these,' said the
Ministry wizard, and he brandished the pinstriped trousers.
'I'm not putting them on,' said old Archie in indignation. 'I like a health=
y breeze
round my privates, thanks.'

Well said Archie! I'm sure Snape would agree. "

Note - this is all completely my theory.
