My turn (Sarcasticmuppet):
Remember in GoF when Harry first hears about what happened to the 
Longbottoms?

"So they're dead?" said Harry quietly.
"No," said Dumbledore, ***his voice full of a bitterness Harry had 
never heard there before.***  "They are insane..."(emphasis mine)

I've always wondered why Dumbledore would sound bitter. Piteous, Sad, 
or Sorrowful would be much more in character for him.  Perhaps this 
theory explains it somewhat.
