kg: I agree with you. After reading the book, I imagined what could 
have happened to Trelawney *if* she had left the castle. She doesn't 
appear to be a very good witch--for example, it doesn't sound as if 
she was doing very well before she became a Hogwarts teacher, as she 
chose to stay in a questionable hotel, which implies lack of money--
and we've seen (or heard) of much stronger witches/wizards being 
destroyed by Voldemort. Trelawney would have most likely suffered a 
similar fate to Bertha Jorkins. Very chilling.
