THANK YOU.  :-)  The question of McGonagall's being there, and this being a 
surprise to Dumbledore, is one that has continued to bother me.  She wasn't 
sent; she just turned up.

This is one of two key points that keeps niggling me, although I know I am 
in the minority, with my "something is not right about Dumbledore" feeling.  
I don't have any kind of theory all worked out.  Okay, there is a third 
point: that we keep being beat over the head with statements about Harry 
being so safe with Dumbledore, and Dumbledore being the only wizard 
Voldemort is afraid of.

But thanks for bringing this up.  I think of this at odd times, and never 
when I sit down to post.  :-)
