I've seen a lot of speculation on why Harry & Company can't be more
open about the innocence of Sirius Black.

The simplest explanation is that they want to, pardon the pun, let the
sleeping dogs lie.  Right now, no one is really paying much attention
to Harry's movements, except for Voldemort.  However, if Harry would
start actively talking about Sirius' innocence, some bright ministry
offical would think that he was just "confunded" and put him under
surveilence - and nab Sirius when he came to visit.
