This is a good point, and one I have thought of - Ron may get the worst of
the lot in many cases.
but I still think it was unkind of him to make the remark about Pigwidgeon.
I'll grant you, he didn't get to pick out his own owl - but neither did
Harry! Hedwig was a gift, and she's turned out cool.
Also, since required books do change over time, it doens't necessarily hold
that *everything* Ron has has deteriorated - As the time lag shortens from
him to the top, the stuff will get better.

Ooooh! Yes! :-) That would be fascinating. I can guess, but don't know
