The only problem I see with this theory is Voldemort's
apparent ability to see through lies or deception.  At
the end of SS/PS, he was able to tell that Harry was
lying about what he saw in the mirror of Erised. 
Plus, in GoF, when Frank tells Voldemort that his wife
will be worried if he does not come home, Voldemort
instinctively knows that he is indeed not married.  If
Snape tries to play the double agent, Voldemort may
see through his facade and suspect the truth...
