 Hi all, Linda here.

I'm not one to make predictions but I think, with OOP so
close, it's time for me to venture out on a limb and brave the wind.

        Hedwig is going to die.

Hedwig is going to die as a result of some action or
inaction of Harry's.

I was lead to this idea from a couple of directions. In
post 59340 Sally quoted from the JKR interview dealing with the
school books. The full quote is as follows:

"Q: Could Harry have a pet dragon?
A: You can't domesticate a dragon whatever Hagrid thinks.
That's simply impossible. So no. He's got more sense. He might get a
different pet at some point but I'm saying no more at this moment."

In post 59342 Brief Chronicals commented on how much they
would hate to see anything happen to Hedwig. Other posters have
commented that Hedwig could not be the death that was "horrible to
write" because it simply would not have the impact of a witch or
wizard that he thinls of as family. IMHO, no person or creature is
more like family to Harry than Hedwig. Hedwig is his companion and
the one friend from the WW that he has year round- including when he
is stuck at the Dursley's. Loosing a pet at any age can be
devestating. You don't have to be a kid for it to have a huge
emotional impact. We lost our dog to a car six months ago and I
still kind of look for her. I blamed myself for the first couple of
weeks because I was the one who let her out the friont door to do
her business. With his sense of resposibility coupled with his age I
can't even imagine what it would be like for Harry. Hedwig is his
family, in all the ways that matter. I think the impact would be
huge.

 My two knuts- Linda
At this time this week I'll be in line at B&N to find out
if I'm right.
