Hitler was Jewish on his mother's (correct me if this is the wrong side of his family) side of the family, but he brought forth some of the most horrible atrocities against Jewish people ever imagined (not to mention any other races/ethnicities/religious groups, etc).  I am not sure if JKR was trying to draw a connection here or if it is simply a coincidence or if it is only vaguely connected, but I thought that it was interesting that the most feared dark wizard in a century had this in common with a person who could arguably be considered one of the most feared leaders of his era.  Just a thought.  Only thing I could think of to support a possible reason why she chose to illuminate this trait.

  Just as an aside, in Jewish law, the child is considered to be what the mother is...that is, if the mother is Jewish then so is the child...the father need not be Jewish...this would have (possibly) made Hitler Jewish on his mother's side...I find it interesting that assuming that being muggle is NOT desirable by LV's standards, then it is the reverse that is true for him.
