Selling out is not the only possiblilty.  I think that if Ron does do 
something bad it will be because he was tricked/conned or thought that he as actually 
helping not for monetery considerations. Or it could be Imperius related. I 
believe that there is a reason we were shown several times that Ron had a 
problem with mind controlling spells (Veelas and Imperius).
