Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me either.  At some time I remember 
hearing mention of Rowling saying that Harry was going to have to 
choose between what was wrong, but easy, and what was right, but not 
so easy.  I think Voldemort being related to Harry somehow would 
definately provide for such a situation.  I don't think it's on 
Lily's side of the family though.  Her parent's were incredibly happy 
when they found out she was a witch, remember?  Which means that they 
knew of the magical community, but that they weren't exactly members 
of it.  I would suspect that maybe he is related on James' side of 
the family.  Perhaps a grandfather, or uncle of Harry's?  

My boyfriend and I were also thinking about Snape, and his possible 
relationship to Harry.  We were thinking that maybe he and Lily dated 
at some point before she and James were married, and that is part of 
what he's so bitter about.  What do you think?
