I disagree. I read that as suprise on the part of Snape, as he
clutched his left forearm tightly when Moody made the remark. It
through Snape off track. It seems Snape didn't realize Moody
knew this, but wasn't suprised toomuch that such an aggressive
auror might have discovered it. I took Moody!Crouch's <some
spots don't come off> comment as a slip. Moody!Crouch
couldn't help himself when in such a confrontation with Snape, a
Death Eater who walked free. So I have no idea whether Alastor
Moody knows about the Dark Mark or not.
In regards to AD knowing about the DM as a result of the
pensieve!Snape's comment. That is likely a memory of a recent
conversation AD had with SS, almost certainly within the time
frame of GoF. We know the DM was getting clearer over the later
half of the book. There is no evidence that SS wasn't discussing
this with AD for the very first time.
