Not so fast; it's *very* arguable whether Hermione returns Ron's
feelings or not. Suffice to say that a good many shipping wars have
been waged on this group and all over the fandom over that very
issue. There is, in fact, a formal debate scheduled at Nimbus - 2003
(www.hp2003.org) next month, where the R/H shippers will square off
against the H/H shippers, using canon evidence to back up their
points. There are extensive essays written (both in HPfGU's FP site)
and on FictionAlley and housed at the partisan sites like
www.pumpkinpie.org (H/H) and www.sugarquill.net (R/H). It is
generally agreed by most partisans though that the evidence is
arguable either way with respect to Ms. Granger's feelings (that is,
that both sides have decent arguments). We shall see, we shall see
(maybe!).

They're only 15. Even if Ron and Hermione get together, odds are
that it won't be to match up for life. People date their friends'
exes all the time. That is quite common really. So, no, I don't
think she has to kill Ron off at all. He might break up with
Hermione, after all. :--)
