HOLLYDAZE!!! replies:
This includes something that is more of a rumour than a spoiler (at least I haven't read
it anywhere as a spoiler) but the warning is to put it on the safe side of the mods.

I've been thinking about a different pattern to the books, regarding what they add to the stories in terms of background information.

The first book is a bit difficult to place but of the info we gain most of it seems to be related to the day that the Potters were attacked, the second book deals with the founders and Voldemort's childhood, the third with Harry's parents (specifically James) and the fourth with the previous LV rein of terror. So:
1: 31st October 1981
2: Founders and Voldemort's History
3: Harry's parents (James' school days)
4: Vold War I

There are rumours that book five will deal with Lilly, so this would add something to the pattern.
5: Harry's parents (Lily's school days)

It also seems reasonable to guess that we will gain most of our info about that fateful night in the seventh book, as a round off to the entire series and answers to some of our most important questions (although people also speculate we'll gain this in book 5) so that would also add:
7: 31st October 1981

That gives us:
1: 31st October 1981
2: Founders and Voldemort's History
3: Harry's parents (James' school days)
4: Vold War I
5: Harry's parents (Lily's school days)
6: (Founders / LV or both ???)
7: 31st October 1981

Looking at that it is possible that book 6 could give either further info about the founders, LV or both. This pattern mirrors itself (yes, I am stating the obvious ;)

Now I'm not saying that we couldn't find out about James in book 5 for example (hey we gained extra founder info in book 4) all I'm saying is that the majority of background info seems to be about those specific incidents in the book so far. If these patterns mirror one another could the patterns of the trio not do something similar?

So could we end up with a book five conclusion with Harry and Hermione, a book six with Harry and Ron and then Book seven with Hermione and Ron helping get Harry to ultimate conclusion but not actually being there themselves? However the mirror does not have to be exact, as shown but James' reflection being Lily, it could be that Harry and Ginny are the book five conclusion and Harry and Neville are the book six conclusion (just as an example).

This idea, especially for book 7, would fit in with the themes of friendship and love overcoming evil as through their friendship Ron and Hermione (or two other people) would help Harry get to a situation where he can defeat Voldemort (in one of any number of ways, not just by killing him). However it also keeps Harry as the solo hero, fighting with Voldemort single handedly, in a way that most people on the group seem to want him to do and think he is destined to.

HOLLYDAZE!!!
"No one's going to try and kill you until we've sorted a few things out," said Lupin.
