>>This is easily my most vivid scene too. I've read and re-read that
passage so many times. I find I actually get irritated with
Hermione for interrupting it as I think Harry so needs to get some
of that pain out and he never seems to deal with his emotions at
all. >>
Couldn't agree with you more. If I have one *Hope* for OOP, it's
that Harry takes the time(perhaps at the Dursley's or the Weasley's
or somewhere) to deal with all this emotional baggage. He opens up
to Dumbledore, but only when Dumbledore calls him- Harry still seems
to have that Anit-Adult thing going on...
Melinda:
>>I find I actually get irritated with
Hermione for interrupting it as I think Harry so needs to get some
of that pain out and he never seems to deal with his emotions at
all. I loved Mrs. Weasley so very much in this scene for offering
him the only bit of comfort I think anyone ever has.>>
I believe that was really the only bit of *maternal*(for lack of a
better word) comfort anyone has really offered Harry. Obviously,
Hermione and Ron offer Harry loads of comfort, just not on that
level. He wouldn't let them, I don't think. But, I think in that
moment, Molly understood that "actions speak louder than words."
That tender action is what *almost* opened the floodgates on Harry,
whereas I believe that if any of them had tried to say something he
would have clammed up again.
Melinda:
>>I would imagine that the
Dursleys, sensing weakness, would be pecking at him even
more than usual.>>
Hmm...I hadn't really considered that the Dursleys might try and
throw salt on Harry's wounds, so to speak... That could lead to some
more scenarios similar to the beginning of Chamber of Secrets.
Though, perhaps after that, the Dursleys have learned to "let
sleeping dragons lie", so to speak. ;)
