Harry Potter and Tom Riddle - and while there may not be an
immediately close relationship; doesn't mean that the two aren't
connected. If they are both heirs of Slytherin, they ARE connected.

Minor point. Harry isn't called Harold. He's called 'Harry', which
is the Old English form of 'Henry'.

Harry is derived from Old German Haimirich (Heinrich),
meaning 'ruler of the house'. Harold is from Old Norse Harivald
(Harald) and means 'powerful army', or possibly 'Power over army'.

The two names do sound similar, and it is true that 'Harry' can be
used as a nickname for Harold. However, in PS/SS Ch. 1, Vernon
tries to remember his nephew's name, considers 'Harold', and rejects
it.

And, of course, Harry (capital H) should not be confused with harry
(lower case h) because Harry has a *completely* different meaning
than harry ...
