Good point, and it brings to mind the bit where Hermione tells Ron 
and Harry that a Muggle couldn't see Hogwarts even if they were 
standing right in front of it - it's bewitched to look like a ruin. 
It says at the start of GoF that the Riddle house has fallen into 
disrepair, but that could be an enchantment too.

Personally, I like to think that the mystery house is Snape's - it 
explains both the serpent doorknobs *and* the fact that it appears to 
be a "safe" house, what with Mrs Weasley, Ron and Hermione all being 
there. Snape, presumably, is off doing the task that Dumbledore set 
him at the end of GoF.
