Dobby's socks - clue?

Reading through GoF last night, I noticed that for Christmas, Dobby 
gave Harry some wool socks (what else is new, right?)  BUT... and 
this might be me just reading way too much into descriptions, one of 
the socks was RED and one of them was GREEN.  I know I could be 
wrong, but I would be willing to bet a considerable amount of 
galleons that this one of JKR's subtle ways of hinting that Harry is 
indeed a descendent of both Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin, 
seeing as as how those are the colors of their respective houses.  
There have been many hints throughout canon about socks, wool, and 
woolen socks that have yet to be explained.  Anyone thinking along 
the same lines as me?
