A friend posted this on another group I'm on, so with
her permission, I post it here for permission.
I disagree with a few things she says, but I'm
interested in what y'all think.

[In Gof] When Voldemort says he has a Death Eater at
Hogwarts... someone that no one will suspect, he is
talking about Barty Crouch's son who is masquerading
as Mad Eye Moody by using the Polyjuice potion. There
is no big secret that we have to wait for the next
book for. All of our suspicions and theories above are
unnecessary, since the *secret* is revealed in the end
of the fourth book.
*However*, as Voldemort is walking around the circle
of Death Eaters, he says about one empty space
something like, "this one is too afraid to return" and
the next empty space, "and I am afraid that this one
is gone to me forever". Now, he doesn't name all of
the death eaters who DID show up, but he does name
many of them.... including Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle.
So, my big question is: WHO was the one that was too
afraid to come? Was it Ludo Bagman? (Remember that he
was tried as a death eater from the memories in the
pensieve.) Was it Karkaroff? (He also was tried in the
pensieve memories and ran away from Hogwarts about the
time of Voldemort's return... does that mean he was
the one too afraid, or one of the ones who was there
but not named?) Was it Snape? Or was Snape the one who
Voldemort thinks is lost to him forever? Which means
Voldemort KNOWS he is a spy.... Or was Snape THERE
spying, but not named by Voldemort? Remember that
Dumbledore asks Snape to "do what he is prepared to
do" and that Snape was a spy that is trusted by
Dumbledore.
Anyhow: I think THOSE are the REAL mysteries that are
left at the end of the book... Who the rest of the
Death Eaters are, which ones are still loyal, which
are pretending to be loyal, which are too afraid to
return and which is known to be not loyal. Also, what
is it that Dumbledore asked Mrs. Weasley to do?
