----------I loved Prof. McGonagall throughout this entire book. She
finally had a chance to show that she could be more than just a rule-
keeping task master. We've seen signs of that before (like when she
mists up at Ron and Harry wanting to visit Petrified Hermione in book
2), but she was marvelous in OotP. I loved the way she
ignored/overrode Prof. Umbridge during Harry's career counselling,
her asides to Peeves for the chandelier and not being able to cheer
U's departure because Peeves had her walking stick. Her giving 50
points apiece to each person who had invaded the Ministry of Magic,
just so Snape could deduct Harry's 10 points . . . not to mention her
defense of Hagrid and her consoling Prof. Trelawny, who she so
obviously dislikes. I wanted to cheer her all the way through the
book.
