God, thank you for that message! I finished the book (and around 
four boxes of kleenex) at midnight last night.  Why, why, why 
Sirius? My heart hurts. And I'm angry. And I'm sad.  

What you say about the possible silver lining is the first glimmer 
of hope I've had that this hasn't been an absolute unmitigated 
disaster . . . but I'd love to hear others' thoughts on it as well.  
Has JKR talked about this yet? Does she offer any explanation for 
why this was necessary?  Poor Harry. Poor Dumbledore. Poor Lupin. 
Poor me. 

(This is my first post to this--or any--discussion group. I'm 
relieved to find more adults out there who are reading this too.)
