I saw it as Snape being embaressed that a "girl", possibly the girl he 
secretly likes, had to come save him and lashed out. Still leaving the door 
open for unrequited love. Happens quite a bit in fiction. And remember, as 
we saw in chapter 26, family life wasn't that great. I'm sure his 
relationship skills were all screwed up before he even got to Hogwarts.

At least that was my interpretation.
