Itoo am feeling just a tad, well not resentful, but less enchanted.
I don't necessarily believe, as some other respondents seem to, that
there is symbology to the death of Sirius. If anything, I think it
is a lesson to Harry on the outcomes of his own actions.
Look at the Tri-Wizard tournament, Harry won that, and once again
defeated Lord Voldemort even though only one of the tasks could be
said to have been won on Harry's own merit. (retrieving the dragon's
egg) He actually had quite a bit of outside (and in some cases
illegal) help.
When he breaks school rules by flying after Neville's remembrall, he
is rewarded with a broom and a position as Gryffindor's youngest
seeker in years.
Perhaps J.K. Rowling has seen fit to show our hero some of the
harsher realities of life.
Even though we can sympathize with Harry's frustration, it was his
unwillingness to concentrate on the lessons that could have blocked
Voldemort from his mind that led to his failure to learn. He learned
the exceedingly difficult Patronus charm, but only from someone who
he was willing to learn from.
I think the Harry in this book, who Rowling says is
a "lot, lot, lot, lot angrier," is growing up. And like many of us, his
growing up is not always pretty. More real, but a little less fun.
