Voila, I only had the book saturday night late, so I only finished
reading it yeasterday around 23.00. But I still want to give my
thoughts on the story. A lot of stuff has probably already been
said, but anyway.

1. I absolutely love the overall development in the book. When Harry
starts out his fifth year, it seems that hardly anyone likes him
anymore. The scene in the Hogwarts Express where Ron and Hermione
say they're expected in the Prefect cabin, was absolutely touching.
It took me back to the beginning of PS where Harry was also all
alone. I thought making R/H prefect was also a perfect way of
allowing other characters to become important as from the start of
the book. Furthermore, Ginny's development is superb! Throughout
the book, Harry gains more credibility and the way his Quidditch
activities are replaced by his DA-courses is great. I hope a lot of
screen time will be left for DA in the next two books.

2. I love what JKR did to Snape. He's been one of my favorite
characters all along, but in the book, the scene with the House
points, is absolutely wonderfull. Also, when Harry is caught by
Umbridge and she calls for Snape, Harry's train of thought is simply
perfect. Realising that that "dreaded Potions teacher" is also a
member of the Order!!!!
I assume they will never like each other, but at the end of the book,
they have clearly grown towards respecting each others capacities and
toward valuing each other.

3. The death of Sirius. What can I say? I was clearly wrong about
who was going to die. I always assumed it would be DD, but
throughtout the book, I started moving towards Ron for several
reasons. There were two clear hints in the book, that R might die:
When Harry walks into the room where Mrs Weasly is with the boggart,
he sees a dead Ron on the floor. Second, around the middle of the
book, Ron says something about not being afraid that Trelawny might
predict him dying. Well maybe in a next book? Anyway, the death of
Sirius moved me. Someone wrote about JKR killing off father figures
in this book. Well that's true, and it made me even feel lonely
while reading the book.

Well that were my (main)thoughts after the first read. Recap: I
LOVE THE BOOK!!!!!!!

My 2 cts,

Vicky (who can't wait for book 6)
