Lily /was/ in Gryffindor. It says in the book that Lily held a great 
amount of contempt for James. However, that ended when James's head 
started to shrink in 7th year.

I'm guessing that she felt very strongly about wanting to help Harry. 
Afterall, she does change the way she addresses Voldemort. "V-
Voldemort" It's not "Dark Lord" or "You-Know-Who" anymore.

I'm pretty sure that most knew of the prophecy. However, the thoughts 
that Harry must know would have varied greatly. Dumbledore very much 
wanted Harry to know, to help Harry, yet didn't want to destroy 
Harry's innocence and burden him further.

I'm thinking that the spell caused harm, but the momentum of it 
caused Sirius to go thru the black veil.

No. DD now knew that he HAD to tell Harry of the prophecy. He had, 
afterall, put it off for 5 years. And I don't believe that V would 
have heard the prophecy. I think that it's more of a controlling of 
the mind, or feeling of sensations and emotions rather than 
actually /reading/ the mind. Plus, didn't DD elude to the fact that 
he was the best at Occlumency? (sp?) Perhaps DD will now give up the 
facade that he and Harry are nothing more than headmaster/pupil. DD 
did cry after explaining what he had to explain to Harry.

I think that only works with eye contact. I don't think it possible 
for V to read Harry's mind.

Umbridge was totally devoted to the Ministry. Look at how corrupt 
Fudge was and multiply that by 10. I'm thinking that she needed it to 
show that Harry was crazy. She is rather sadistic.

Alas, I disagree wholeheartedly here. It was unusual, but not out of 
canon at all. Think about it. Bellatrix was taunting Harry. She was 
the one who had delivered the spell that would lead to Sirius's 
death. I'd be mightly pissed and he had a "rightous anger". In all 
honesty, I'm 15 myself, and if my father-figure had just died at the 
hands of this ... horrible person, I would have wanted to cause some 
extreme pain to her. Besides, Harry's anger had been bubbling the 
entire year.

Hmm. I've never thought of it as love. Not exactly. It always seemed 
to be more of a determination and knowing that you are good and on 
the good side. I could be wrong however.

Probably No and No because then the second rise of Voldemort would have been 
believed to whomever works in DoM and would probably have had to go over newly

I'm guessing that it was automatic, or done in some fashion by the 
Unspeakables. But I don't think that the DE could have gotten their 
hands on the prophecies unless they were mentioned in the prophecy. 
Remember DD saying that only V or Harry could pick it up without 
going insane?

True. But Snape did something to get DD to put absolute trust in him. 
Snape must have done something pretty amazing and good.
