Never mind royalty, what about JKR herself? I'm not sure of her age 
when her mother died, but all indications are that it affected her 
deeply. Witnessing a difficult illness in someone you love and 
dealing with their death while coping with your own life problems is 
quite overwhelming. When I read the part where Luna discusses 
those 'beyond the veil' with Harry, I immediately thought of JKR's 
life.
