I think the ending is what we've been heading for all
along. It's supposed to be a war. True a war with
wands not guns but a war none the less. Sooner or
later someone had to get into it in a large group. 

As for the DA not being ready.... gee 5 kids face off
with 10 or more adult dark wizards, who we assume have
killed and maimed many in the past, and come out of it
alive. I don't care if the OOTP showed up and pulled
thier bacon out of the fire or not they still held
their own facing 2 to one odds sounds prepared to me.



One last thing until told otherwise by canon I think
Sirius got tagged by a stupify(sp?)curse based on the
jet of red light and fell through the veil while still
alive.
